New Blogger at Art21 Blog

Well slap my butt and call me a prairie pup! I’m one of nine new bloggers over at Art21 Blog, in a new column called Open Enrollment. The column will explore current issues surrounding the graduate art degree from the perspective of students throughout the country and in Europe. I’ve been keeping this hush hush as I found out about my participation a few weeks ago. Today, the super cool Director of Special Projects, Kelly Shindler, publicly shared us with the world!

I’m super amped to contribute to this blog, as it’s an online spin-off of one of my favorite television shows dedicated to contemporary art, Art:21. I’m a sucker for fantastic PBS shows! I’m also super amped because some contributors to Art21 Blog include art bloggers that I currently follow, including some that I mentioned in a previous post like Hrag Vartanian and Bill Powhida.

So be sure to check it out every Wednesday. I’ll be contributing in two weeks with another blogger, Matthew Newton from Hunter College, who oddly enough, I met last Spring at his first MFA Open Studios. Our mutual friend was my buddy and former Bushwick neighbor, Bonnie Kaye Whitfield, who is currently having her Thesis Exhibition at Pratt. Small world, ain’t it? The Network! Ah!

The first post is up today, written by Matthew and Vency Yun, a student currently studying in Marseille. The two of them introduce all the bloggers and each of our individual programs. Vency interviewed me over Skype. Go on, read it!

The contributing bloggers to Art21 Blog’s Open Enrollment:
Mike Brenner (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee)
Daniel Ingroff (Mountain School of Arts)
